Luzviminda (2021)

“Luzviminda” follows a girl who wears a paper bag over her head, scared of what people may think of her. She befriends a girl named Madison who quickly oversteps her boundaries, revealing the upsetting truth about Luzviminda.

I made this film as my senior capstone project. I wanted to make a film that was a hybrid of horror and coming-of-age.

The idea of “Luzviminda” is to critique “normative beauty” in America, specifically the beauty standards for Asian American women. I wanted to make something about what our [Asian American women] experiences did to us.
